Knight Web Design – Hosting Terms of Business

This is a plain-English guide to what our hosting service includes – and what it doesn’t.

  1. What We Mean by “Hosting”

When we say “hosting”, we mean just that: we provide a secure server environment where your WordPress website can live. Think of it like renting space in a digital building – we keep the lights on and the doors locked, but what happens inside is up to you (or part of another service).

  1. What’s Included
  • A fast, stable server, optimised for WordPress
  • Server-level security and software updates
  • Enough storage and bandwidth for a typical business site
  • Friendly support for hosting-related issues (like downtime)
  1. What’s Not Included

Hosting does not include:

  • Backups (these are part of a maintenance plan)
  • Content changes, plugin updates or site edits
  • Email services (unless agreed separately)
  • Fixing your site if it breaks – unless you have a maintenance agreement
  • 100% uptime, anyone offering this can’t guarantee it, but our uptime is business-grade and exceptional.

If you need extra work done, just ask – we’ll quote separately.

  1. Maintenance & Backups

If you want your site regularly backed up, updated, and monitored – that’s a separate maintenance agreement. Without one, you’re responsible for your own updates, backups, and site health.

  1. Payments & Renewals

Hosting is billed annually or monthly in advance. Late payments may result in your site being suspended. We’ll always give you notice before that happens.

  1. Cancelling

You can cancel with 30 days’ notice. We don’t offer partial refunds for unused time.

  1. Domains

If we manage your domain, we’ll keep it renewed. If you manage it, it’s your job to ensure it doesn’t expire. A lapsed domain means your site goes offline.

  1. Fair Use

If your site requires more resources than normal (e.g., heavy traffic or big media files), we’ll talk about moving you to a more suitable hosting plan.  This is typical for eCommerce, image-heavy brochure sites and training or LMS platforms.

  1. Security & Hacking

We take server security seriously, but if your site is hacked due to weak passwords, poor plugins, or outdated software (and you’re not on a maintenance plan), it’s your responsibility to clean it up. We can help, but it’ll be a separate job and chargeable.

  1. Uptime and Service Levels

We aim for 99.9% uptime, but no web host can guarantee 100%. Sometimes servers need maintenance, or the internet misbehaves. We’ll always do our best to keep you online and informed.

  1. Access & Logins

If you need full access to your hosting or site files, we can provide it – but we’re not responsible for anything that breaks after that point unless we’ve agreed to fix it.

If you’re ever unsure what’s included – just ask. We’ll give you a straight answer, no jargon, no drama.

These terms are subject to change.
